Special Operations Soldiers Receive Impact Awards
BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Beneath a hot Afghan sun, sixteen soldiers from 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, currently assigned to Special Operations Task Force-East, received impact awards during a ceremony held at Camp Montrond, May 14.
The soldiers, whose home station is Fort Bragg, N.C., arrived in Afghanistan in March and officially took responsibility of their duties, April 1.
They earned impact awards for exceptional performance during the battalion’s pre-mission training in preparation for supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. The training took place in several different locations, including Fort Irwin, Calif., and Fort Bliss and McGregor, Texas.
The awardees, who are assigned to various sections throughout SOTF-E, ranged from Spc. to Chief Warrant Officer 4. Two Army Commendation Medals and 14 Army Achievement Medals were awarded.
