8th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) Activation Ceremony

FORT BRAGG, NC – The 8th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) will hold an activation ceremony at 9 a.m., Aug. 26, on Meadows Field at the U.S. Army Special Operations Command headquarters. 

Col. Brian Cavanaugh will uncase the colors of the new 8th MISG (A) as part of a reorganization of all active Army Psychological Operations at the headquarters.

The 8th Group will assume responsibility for the 1st, 5th and 9th Military Information Support Battalions. The 1st MISB has geographic responsibility for Southern Command. The 5th MISB has geographic responsibility for Pacific Command and the 9th MISB is in charge of all tactical operations for Military Information Support Operations worldwide.

The 4th group, which had a change of command on Aug. 3, will retain responsibility for the 6th, 7th and 8th MISBs. 

Cavanaugh was a previous commander of the 3rd MISB and his most recent assignment was at the United States Air War College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

Host for the ceremony is Lt. Gen. John F. Mulholland Jr., Commanding General of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
