The three Soldier-Medics were selected from amongst nearly two-dozen of their USASOC peers for outstanding, meritorious performance as Special Operations Soldiers, medics, and leaders -- on and off the field of battle during the past 12 months.

With 25 combined years of service amongst them, Costa, Foley, and Sevilla possess and display characteristics so common amongst our Civil Affairs, Special Operations, and Special Forces Medics: selfless service, professionalism, courage, tactical prowess and technical medical expertise.

"These great USASOC Soldiers have demonstrated that they had, would, and will continue to unselfishly give their all to the mission and fellow Soldiers," said Col. Peter J. Benson, USASOC surgeon. "For their selfless service and tireless commitment to excellence as USASOC Medics, I am proud to make the announcement of this year’s US Army Special Operations Command Medics of the Year."
