MARSOC Memorial Unveiled
CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Maj. Gen. Mastin M. Robeson, the commander of U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command, and Lt. Gen. Dennis J. Hejlik, commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force salute the MARSOC Memorial Wall during a dedication and cake cutting ceremony at Stone Bay, here, Nov. 10.
The wall names the six Marines and one Navy Corpsmen in MARSOC who have given their lives in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Family members of the fallen service members, and Marines and Sailors gathered to pay their respects during the ceremony.
At the ceremony's end, a Marine Corps Birthday Cake was brought out to celebrate the 234th Marine Corps Birthday. The celebration included the traditional passing of the cake from the oldest Marine in attendance to the youngest.
The Marine Raiders Foundation, a national nonprofit organization, donated funds to construct the wall.
