The 724th Special Tactics Squadron is one of the Special Tactics units of the US Air Force. The Squadron is based at Pope Air Force Base and is believed to be the USAF's participation to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).

This is supported by the fact that the Air Force Special Tactics personnel assigned to Task Forces under command of the JSOC (Task Force Ranger, and the unit variously known as Task Force 121, Task Force 6-26 and Task Force 145) were always from the 724th STS and never from the other STS.  The 724th was previously designated the 25th STS.

On the opposite side, 724th STS personnel didn't take part of 720th Special Tactics Group operations while not under command of JSOC ; for example, Combat Controllers assigned to Special Forces "A-Teams" during the Afghanistan invasion belonged to 21st, 22nd and 23rd STS only.
