    Here it is, CTV NEWS

I wonder what gave them away? the abnormal build up of muscle... or possibly the weapons they were carrying got noticed.

If it was a member of the public I would put money on weapons, especially considering it was a hard takedown.

I'm surprised they Cops didn't run the plates and surly they would have come up as Gov/Military?

I'm thinking if the "Unit" decided not to play nice there would be a lot of dead Cops...

Generally covert vehicles are registered to people/companies/entities and not the government.

As for not playing nice...why wouldn't they? The farce comment was directed towards the ASIS incident, which was farcical and unprofessional, to say the least.

I have no idea about the incident you are referring to. I'm merely stating that if the the Unit in question for what ever reason didn't come quietly there would be a lot of dead cops due to there TTP's and Specialist training..

I'm assuming the ASIS are Secret Service?

I laughed too when I read that. Gizmo

Wait a minute, so JTF2 dudes can carry weapons on them at all times? pistols I assume. or would it be when on duty or something like that...I would not mind packing a pistol on me even when I'm not working. I'm just cool like that.

I guess I'm asking can they take a pistol with them to Tim Hortons while off duty?

    Anyway,

I doubt any one in the know will answer your questions considering they may breach PERSEC/OPSEC.

Yeh I guess, I CAN imagine them carrying at least one weapon on them at all times being Tier 1 and all. CSOR? probably not.

Maybe I'll get lucky and find an answer.

I'd say that the article gives you more than enough information. And it will be left at that. Read.

Some of our shooters have federal weapons permits just like our special agents do. why wouldn't it be the same for our friendly neighbors to the North.

Sorry mate, didn't see that last question. Yip, they're the Aussie version of CIA, MI6 etc.

This is the farcical thing I was talking about: http://everything2.com/title/ASIS Raid in Sheraton Hotel Melbourne

Plates are federally registered, some times a permit is required to carry and some times not. ;) Honestly, I think the cops were douchebags for not running the plates and were probably just thinking they were gonna make the papers. There's a lot of big smuggling take downs along that "corridor" b.ut it shouldn't be anything knew for the locals or cops seeing "big burly men". Plus I think the paper is fucked for releasing that they had surveillance "gizmo's".
