Funding is a lot like... well, like a lot of things: no matter how much you have of it, you always need (i.e. want) more. ;)

Funding is the Holy Grail. Assume another units mission (and their funding) and your empire grows, read some of the WW II stories regarding Generals (who always seem to be after glory) and you'll see it never ends. If I can get your funds, then I can divert your funds to a mission that is more important (i.e. my units current mission).

No matter how much I see it, I'm always surprised by it. Funding is power. Doesn't matter which side of the aisles you're from, grabbing more funding is a serious priority. Drives me nuts. I'm sure my own staff will be glad when they don't have to listen to me yell about ROI anymore. I've turned down taking over other departments and their funding just because it didn't make any fiscal sense. I'm an odd bird, I know.

In addition to these, I'll put up Tides Of War by Steven Pressfield. Just finished it and it's not Gates Of Fire, but still a good read.

Recieved the books from CDG and Deathy McDeath. Thanks, I'll put the books back up for shipping as soon as I have read them. I still have the books I listed still currently available. I am suprised that more folks have not used this awesome offer.

Agreed. I would take more books, but there haven't been too many posted that I haven't already read.

I'd be taking a few books from each list, but I still have About Face (800+ pages) and Once an Eagle (1200+ pages) to read, along with Lions of Kandahar and a new book I was just sent. Getting through mine as quickly as I can. I don't want to monopolize anyone's reading material.

I am in the process of moving and came across a lot of books to put up. For the sake of readability, I made a PDF with a list, broken down into Non-Fiction and Fiction categories. Given the amout of books involved, I may ask the receiver to pay shipping costs. After a couple weeks, if nothing is really going, I will just donate the books to a thrift store. I wanted to give SS first crack at them.

Before you donate to a thrift store, would you consider donating to your local USO? Most of them, especially on bases or in airports have free libraries and are always in need of good condition books.

I certainly would. I was going to donate them to the local DAV (should have specified) thrift store, so now maybe I'll donate half to each. Great idea! I hadn't even thought of that. :-)
