Oh, cool. I just noticed this thread. Heck yes I'd love to do this. I should be reading way more and now that I'm going to be away from home this is my opportunity!

    Paperback:
Marine! The Life of Chesty Puller by Burke Davis
Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden
Shooter by GySgt Jack Coughlin, Capt Casey Kuhlman, and with Donald A. Davis
The Last Stand of Fox Company by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin
    Marine Sniper by Charles Henderson
On Killing by Lt Col Dave Grossman
One Bullet Away The Making of a Marine Officer by Capt Nathaniel Fick
Making The Corps by Thomas E. Ricks

I gave my copy of The Village to my father-in-law to try to explain to him what FID was.

    Hardback:
The Lions of Iwo Jima by Major General Fred Haynes
Flags of Our Fathers by James Bradley with Ron Powers
LBJ's Hired Gun by John J. Gebhart

And also, if Shadowspear is still up in 500 years and this thread is still active, I've got a few dozen Battletech novels from my childhood. It'll make for good reading once we wage war with giant robots.

I just finished reading Holy War Inc. by Peter Bergen. I found the book fascinating. How he was able to link all of these different Islamist figures in all of these different countries to UBL was incredible. And who knew the Bin Laden Corporation had a licensing with Disney?

This book proved just how sophisticated this enemy is in the sense they go to such great lengths for their cause. They're patient, intelligent, and proficient in their craft. I also found the information on the Saudis to be interesting- and just how backwards our current policies with them seem.

Anyway, I'd like to hold onto the book for another month or so. I have a speech coming up and I will be citing this book as a source. But after that, it's fair game if anyone would like to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

In all honesty, I did not finish reading the book. :( I got to about page 875 and I was done with it. I was in yet another chapter about some something having nothing to do with anything (another party Damon and XYZ other characters were at) yet going on for seemingly endless pages.

    I have:
    American Sniper
    Once an Eagle
    Steve Jobs Bio

    All available for the taking.
I finished American Sniper in 3 days. Didn't care for it too much. I think CDG already hit on this, but it was mostly "I shot these guys" then "I fought these guys in a bar" then "I shot these guys" oh yeah, "did I mention how badass all SEALs are, except for some Os who are pussies". I also didn't care for how he threw SWCC guys under the bus. I don't know the circumstances of the situation described in the book, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. As did his comment about anyone who isn't a SEAL is just a regular Navy puke. Someone left their humble pie on the Silver Strand...
Blackhawk Down and Lone Survivor were much better reads!
