I thought it was an important moment in history...particularly to SF. http://www.militaryhistoryonline.com/wwii/dday/pointeduhoc.aspx These Rangers did find the gun emplacements a few miles inland and took them out with experimental thermite grenades. This battle was very important. If these Rangers did not take out the gun batteries, there was chance that the storming of Utah and Omaha would fail. Additionally, the success of this battle paved the way for other special ops soldiers to come: Green Berrets and the current Rangers.
