Another known mission carried out by the High Command GAFE group was the capture of drug cartel leader Javier Torres Félix aka El JT in Culiacan, Sinaloa. January 27th of 2004. They were sent from Mexico City to Culiacan at 9:00am and returned with him at 6:00 pm that same day. Previous intelligence was gathered and a certain day was scheduled for his arrest, however, the secretary said to reporters that he decided his immediate capture before schedule due to the death of an army soldier of the Third military region who was killed by one of his hit men while he and his comrades were patrolling the outskirts of a town called EL TULE.
