WASHINGTON, DC — The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
Both soldiers died March 22, 2019, in Kunduz Province, Afghanistan, as a result of wounds sustained while engaged in combat operations.
Sgt. 1st Class Will D. Lindsay, 33, was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (airborne). He served in the Army since 2004, and his service included five tours in Iraq and one in Tajikistan. He is a Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient. Lindsay leaves behind a wife and four daughters.
Spc. Joseph P. Collette , 29, was assigned to the 242nd Ordnance Battalion, 71st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group. He served since 2010, and his decorations include a Purple Heart and four Army Achievement Medals.
The incident is under investigation.
