GREAT book. I thought the author did a fair job representing the man, both good and bad. As a member of the Waffen-SS and former adjutant to Himmler himself, Peiper had a "couple two, tree" war crimes under his belt which the author does not shy away from. The author did take pains to present him as a complex human being which is where I think some SS biographies fall short.

It covered his life, training, ascension in the SS, time with Himmler, war service, trial, imprisonment, etc. Very thorough.
