Notice F

I have used the Lifepak 10, 11, 12 in pre hospital settings. All were good. I am partial to Philips MRX but only because we have been using them for a while now. 12 leads seem easier than LP-12, transmitting also easier but again, preference. I dd have the chance to use the Zoll X series and loved it. The drop it weight, 12 leads, transmitting / blue tooth is easier than MRX. The drop in weight is nice, especially, if you have to hump the fucker on a 4 floor walk up for a code, or 14 times in a 24 hour tour.

I'm more of a Lifepak-15 kinda guy. I just like it better. I will say that I believe the Zoll pacing waveform is more effective and leads to mechanical capture at a lower electrical dose, but for me that one thing doesn't tip the tables. The Phillips are nice as well.

An interesting little tidbit of info since the advent of AED units being placed on the walls of many establishments.

Try to imagine one of the best places to be if you are in sudden need of an AED. The people who have the best outcomes after a sudden life taking arrhythmias are the those who are witnessed going down and have ready access to an AED. It turns out that one of the best places to go down is in a casino. They have AED's all over the place and just about every square inch of the casino floor space is watched from above.

Yeah, well. In the Philly region, Bensalem Township to be exact, we have the Phila. Park Casino. I was working Bristol Township a few years ago, mutual aid job in the casino for a sick unknown. Get there, 2 security standing over some older man, on ground, looking like he wants to die. He was inn a 3rd. degree AVB, lethargic and hemodynamicly unstable. My partner readies the I.V. and I place combi pads on, began packing with satisfactory electrical and mechanical capture. During that entire time, security was hurrying us, telling us to leave. NO AED was ever at pt's. side, nobody assisted this man. AEDs work of people elect to use them. He survived. The casino complained to the local EMS agency that covers that A.O., I got a call, teling me "we all need to work together", code for "the surrounding townships get lots of casino money / don't rock the boat".

I told my super to fuck them, fuck the casino and kiss my ass then. I did my job. So, yeah. If people use them, great. What if he needed to be shocked and not paced, those fuckers did not know.
