SWAT/SERT

Hello.
I am really considering LE after I finish my contract. I don't know much about SWAT, or the like teams. I haven't found much of what I am looking for on here, or google searching. Is the training pretty similar everywhere? Are there better departments to go to for someone who may be interested in it? Would a small agency be likely to have one? Or would it be better to get into a larger departments? What is the big difference between part, and full time SWAT officers, other than the obvious? Does one get more/better training than the other? What has your overall experience been being apart of SWAT?

Start by looking into the area you want to work. Then look at the departments that cover that area. There’s a lot of info out there. But I’m not aware of one department where you start off on the SWAT team. Doesn’t matter if you shot Bin Laden. You start by being a good cop first.
